After Nottingham Lions returned to ice last weekend in the NIHL North Cup, Nottingham Panthers are the latest local ice hockey team to release their return to action as they’ll take part in a four team tournament at the National Ice Centre next month.
The competition named the Elite Series will house the Panthers against Sheffield Steelers, Coventry Blaze and Manchester Storm with 24 regular games, two semi-finals and a best of three series final.
There will be daily testing and a full COVID-19 protocol. Details on the fixture schedule will be released soon along with plans for an exciting “GB players’ draft” where the four teams involved will be able to pick from some of the most exciting players in the country.
On announcing the news, Nottingham Panthers state “The teams will feature top British players from across the league plus top imports.”
“The event will be true to the Elite League product that fans expect. The four teams have pressed the button and recruitment is underway.”
“Games will be played behind closed doors with a comprehensive streaming service bringing every second of the action to fans across the country.”
