NSL Returns With Cup Format

The Samba Nottinghamshire Senior League returns tomorrow with a round-robin, divisional cup competition incorporating each of their five divisions.

Beginning with a first round of fixtures on 17 April, with seven matches in the Premier Division Cup, the tournament is expected to run through until mid-June, the group phase encompassing the dates between 17 April and 8 May, before scheduled semi-finals on 29 May, and finals (overall) across the Saturdays of 5 and 12 June.

Of the four groups in the Premier Division, Bingham Town, who were league leaders prior to league curtailment, have been drawn into Group A, whilst Woodthorpe, who were second, are in Group D; the group constitutions in the Premier Division are as follows –

  • GROUP A: Aslockton & Orston, Bingham Town, Cotgrave, Keyworth United
  • GROUP B: Burton Joyce, Ravenshead, Southwell City
  • GROUP C: Bilborough Town, FC Cavaliers, Magdala Amateurs, Woodthorpe Park Rangers
  • GROUP D: Attenborough, Awsworth Villa, Ilkeston Town, Sandiacre Town

There is also competitive football for clubs in that of Division One, Division Two North, Division Two South, and the Foundation Division.

Two of the top three sides in Division One, FC Sez and Ruddington Village, have been drawn together in Group A, alongside Radcliffe, whilst in the Foundation Cup, the top three sides of Carlton Town, Netherfield, and South Notts, have all been drawn in Group A.

Kicking off on Saturday 17 April (times subject to that of HRH Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, funeral) the Nottinghamshire Senior League Premier Division Cup will see the following fixtures take place –

  • GROUP A: Bingham Town v Aslockton & Orston; Keyworth United v Cotgrave
  • GROUP B: Southwell City v Burton Joyce
  • GROUP C: Billborough Town v Woodthorpe Park Rangers; FC Cavaliers v Magdala Amateurs
  • GROUP D: Attenborough v Ilkeston Town; Sandiacre Town v Awsworth Villa
