Carlton Edge Hucknall In Friendly Win

Carlton Town 1-0 Hucknall Town (Friendly) 17.04.21

A first half strike from Tyler Blake gave Carlton Town a 1-0 win against Hucknall Town at Stoke Lane.

Blake struck on 14 minutes, latching onto a loose clearance and driving home low from the edge of the box.

Tommy Brookbanks and Mark Harvey had picked a more recognisable first eleven than the side which had beaten Gedling Miners Welfare in midweek, but there was still room for a sizeable number of Academy players and triallists in the squad.

In blazing sunshine on a fine surface both sides played some neat passing football. Hucknall went close on 38 minutes but their centre half missed from close range when it looked easier to score.

On 50 minutes Gideon Donkor was inches away from doubling the lead with a lovely shot that was just wide of the post.  And with 15 minutes remaining Niall Davie saw his corner cannon off the post and back into play.

But there were to be no more goals as Carlton saw out the game comfortably.

Carlton Town: Steggles, Gorman (Sturgess 46), Johal, Brown (Bateman 46), Moore, Maddison (Whitton 46), Rae (Donkor 46), Elliott (Daft 46), Smith (Thomas 46), Blake (Gibson 46), Davie (Beejer 46).

Hucknall Town: Pearson, Maxwell, Phillips, Short, Brown, Bulgin, Banister, Crawford, Ashurst, Butler, Ryan.

Venue: Bill Stokeld Stadium
