As grassroots and non-league football returns to action it hasn’t taken long for the Managerial merry-go-round to get started with two notable clubs in the county making changes over the last week.
Northern Counties East League outfit AFC Mansfield, announced that their boss Matt Chatfield was to depart from the club last week and the Bulls have been quick to replace a man leaving for a new role at Grantham Town, with one of their own, as club captain Phil Buxton takes over at the Forest Town Arena.
Buxton has made over 300 appearances for Mansfield after originally joining in 2012 and stated “I’m extremely happy and proud to be appointed the manager of AFC Mansfield it’s obviously a club that I know very well and I thank the chairman for trusting me with the position.”
Meanwhile, Dunkirk FC who play their football in the East Midlands Counties League, announced last week that Luke Humphries and Marko Markelic had stepped down from their duties in charge.
The club yesterday announced that joint reserve team duo Ben Moore and Jonno Bell will step up to first team matters and take over from immediate effect.
Bell himself saying “A big project on our hands and plenty of work to do but buzzing myself and Ben Moore have been appointed 1st team managers.”
The club echoing their delight with a statement that ended “The club look forward to an exciting new chapter under their leadership”.
