Cotgrave Edge Thriller As Ravens Thump BJ

Ravenshead opened their Samba Nottinghamshire Senior League Premier Division Cup campaign with a comprehensive 6-0 win away to Burton Joyce on Saturday afternoon.

Including two substitutes netting, and with the hosts down to ten-men at 2-0, the side from Cornwater would register through Joshua Broad, Kallum Greaves, Brent Horton, Perris Thomas, and subs Oliver Higgins and Jacob Woods.

There was also victories on the road for Attenborough, at Awsworth Villa, and Cotgrave, away to Aslockton & Orston, whilst the game between Keyworth United and Bingham Town finished in a 1-1 draw, Tom Spencer netting for the visitors.

At Awsworth, visiting Attenborough would net through Joe Connor, Riley Walker and Jack Warner in a 3-1 victory, whilst Cotgrave would edge a five-goal thriller, 3-2, thanks to Lucas Cotterill, Henry Adlam-Wood and Lee Potts, they cancelling out efforts from home substitutes Ben Daniels and Max Lockwood.

Ilkeston Town FCB meanwhile registered a 2-0 home win when they defeated visitors Sandiacre Town, goals coming from Ayleal Dill and Ricco Spencer, and Woodthorpe Park Rangers won 3-2 at home to FC Cavaliers, Siraj Chitulu with a brace for the Cavs.

The First Division Cup saw home wins for Beeston, Southwell City and Stapleford Reserves, the latter by four when home to ten-man Wollaton Reserves, with the former seeing off Kimberley Miners Welfare by three without reply, goals coming from Lee Fowler, Thomas O’Regan and Dane Wakefield.

Further down the Senior League, there were goals flowing galore, Harry Hill notching a hat-trick for Beeston Old Boys Association, who won 5-3 at FC Mansfield in Division Two North, Federico Mora and Shaun Smith also scoring, whilst in Division Two South, Ruddington Village Reserves hit seven without reply at Keyworth Reserves, Burton Joyce Reserves won 5-3 at Pythian with Thomas Rowlands netting three and Simon Hill two, and West Bridgford Reserves claimed a 4-2 win away to Bingham Reserves, substitute George Sansom amongst the scorers for the victors.

The Foundation Division Cup meanwhile, there was nine goals at Sutton Travellers as they registered a 5-4 home win over Rainworth Seniors, a further were scored at South Notts as they fell 5-3 to visitors Netherfield Seniors, AFC Bull Farm won 6-1 away to Manor, and AFC Vernon won 5-1 whilst hosting Rushcliffe Ravens.

Of the nine at Sutton, they seeing off Rainworth Seniors 5-4, Liam Drury and Andreas Kokkinou notched braces for their respective sides and Callum Cocks bagged a hat-trick as Netherfield won 5-3 at South Notts, Kyle Carter and Greg McLean also scoring, the visitors replying through Bright Amegee Kougbe, Betilson Paixao and Connaire Seery.

Upcoming, on Saturday 1 May, Bingham Town host Cotgrave, Ilkeston welcome Awsworth, Sandiacre Town entertain Attenborough, and Ravenshead make the trip to Southwell in the Premier Division, whilst in the First Division there’s two midweek matches scheduled with Radcliffe Olympic hosting United Grays on Tuesday, and FC Sez welcoming Gedling Southbank on Friday.

On the Saturday, Radcliffe make the trip to West Bridgford, whilst United Grays host Southwell Reserves, and there’s home outings for Kimberley MW and Wollaton, who entertain Stapleford Reserves and Beeston respectively.
