Reds Hit Imps For Six

Nottingham Forest Women 6-0 Lincoln City Women (Friendly) 22.07.21

It was six of the best at Eastwood on Thursday night as Andy Cook’s Reds put visiting Lincoln City Women to the sword.

In adding two new signings to his squad, Freya Thomas from Leicester City, and Sophie Bamford from Aston Villa Academy, Forest were looking to put their opening, pre-season friendly loss, firmly behind them, and they did just that.

Emily Batty started in goal for the second successive game, as well as a start for Becky Anderson, and a debut for Bramford, the latter netting one of Forest’s six.

Three goals in each half was all it took to delight the Forest faithful in attendance, and that’s what they got; a Forest Trialist opened the scoring within five minutes before Bramford, on her debut, doubled the lead after 18 minutes.

Two became three just before the break when Mai Moncaster got in on the act to afford a comfortable cushion at the break.

The second period would go pretty much the same direction as the first, towards the visitors’ goal, and it wouldn’t be too long before the fourth, and fifth goals, were added.

On her second start in the famous Garibaldi, and coming on as a substitute, Jade Arber added a quick-fire brace, within fifteen minutes, to take Forest’s tally on the night to five, before a late sixth was netted, with ten minutes to go, from Sophia Bonser.

It’s a quick turn-around for the Garibaldi, and a road-trip at the weekend, with tough opposition as they head to the north-east on Sunday afternoon (25 July) against Sunderland Ladies, at the Academy of Light, they having lost 1-0 against Celtic Women in their pre-season opener.
