Bolland’s Way – The Magpie Circle

Paul Bolland recalls a turbulent and eventful six year stint at Notts County.

In the latest Magpie Circle podcast, Paul charts his time in Nottingham after being signed by manager Sam Allardyce for £75,000.

He went on to make 194 appearances around the turn of the Millennium.

And says Bolland: “I certainly grew up during my time in Nottingham.

“There was never a dull moment.  I was signed by Big Sam after the club had won the Championship.

“We started well initially but Sam left and after Derek Pavis sold the club we encountered money problems and ended up in administration.

“It was a battle during that time but I will always look upon my days at Notts as when I grew up.”

After a career spanning further stints at Grimsby, Macclesfield and Harrogate, Paul is now a teacher in Yorkshire.
