Panthers Gain First Leg Advantage

Nottingham Panthers 4-2 Guildford Flames (Challenge Cup Quarter Final 1st Leg) 11.01.22

Nottingham Panthers secured a two-goal win and a two-goal advantage against Guildford Flames in the first leg of their Premier Sports Challenge Cup Quarter Final on Tuesday night.

Kevin Carr started in goal for the Panthers opposite Kevin Lindskoug for the Flames.

Sean Richards (4.42) scored his second goal in as many games to give Nottingham the lead, his effort just sneaking over the line and standing after a quick video review from the officials.

Carr had to come up big on more than one occasion to keep the Panthers’ lead in tact & they went into the first intermission holding a narrow one goal advantage.

Quick-fire goals from Tristan Frei (24.38) & Ian McNulty (26.07) gave the Flames the lead but Robbie Baillargeon (26.38) & Sean Richards (36.38) struck back for the Panthers to send the home side into the final frame ahead by one.

A late third period goal from Robbie Baillargeon (50.20) sealed the 1st leg win for Nottingham who will take their two-goal lead to the Guildford Spectrum on Wednesday.
