Dundee Stars 5-4 Nottingham Panthers (Elite League) 16.01.22
The Nottingham Panthers made it five points out of a possible six on their Scottish triple header on Sunday evening in Dundee but their five game win streak was snapped in an overtime defeat to the Stars.
Kevin Carr started in goal for the Panthers opposite Adam Morrison for the Stars.
Phillipe Sanche (9.32) and Sebastian Bengtsson (10.05) gave the hosts a two goal lead but a brace from Robbie Baillargeon (14.32 & 18.53) ensured the teams went into the first intermission tied.
Dundee restored their two goal advantage in the second thanks to goals from Spencer Dorowicz (21.09) & Markus Kankaanpera (25.00) and held onto that lead going into the final frame.
Matthew Myers (41.02) pulled the Panthers within one in the third period and Aaron Thow (51.46) sent the game to overtime.
The Stars sealed the extra point in the extra period when Sanche scored his second of the game (60.29).
It’s certainly not been a bad weekend in Scotland for the Nottingham Panthers who now sit fourth in the Elite League standings well within the playoff zone.
Next up is Guildford Flames and the away leg of the Challenge Cup Quarter Final where the Panthers currently hold a two-goal lead. That match will be played on Wednesday night before Nottingham return to league action on Saturday with a trip to the auld enemy Sheffield who currently sit top of the league.
