Notts Well Beaten By Leaders

Stockport County 3-0 Notts County (National League) 15.03.22

An illness hit Notts County had to endure a thumping defeat at top of the table Stockport County as Ian Burchnall’s side slumped to a fifth game without a win.

Two saves in the opening ten minutes by Jaros, first from Croasdale and then from Crankshaw lead Notts to believe they were always going to be in for a tough night in Greater Manchester but the Magpies had their own chances in the first half, Jayden Richardson latching on to a poor back pass to round Ben Hinchcliffe but somehow hit over when it looked easier to score into an empty net, the best of the lot for the travelling army.

Stockport aimed to make Notts pay and Hippolyte forced another save from Jaros before Paddy Madden netted the opener on 28, the Irish striker heading home from close range after an excellent delivery by Crankshaw.

The home side doubled their advantage just four minutes into the second half as Madden this time turned provider for Crankshaw who ran through on goal from a counter-attack to slot home.

Jaros then made yet another save from Collar before the irrepressible Madden made it three, side footed, he placed home after a pull back from Hippolyte and good work by Sarcevic.

Hippolyte may even have made it four as Jaros again kept out at full stretch late in the game, on the night the Liverpool loanee was Notts County’s best player although hapless in stopping Stockport winning their 17th match in 18 games.
