Glasgow Clan 3-4 Nottingham Panthers *aot (Elite League) 20.03.22
The Nottingham Panthers fought back from a two-goal deficit in the first period to secure a four-point weekend with a thrilling overtime win against the Glasgow Clan on Sunday afternoon.
Kevin Carr got the start in goal for the Panthers opposite Shane Starrett for the Clan.
Guillaume Gauthier (7.32) put the hosts in front with a smart finish inside the first ten minutes, Nottingham had the chance to answer back on a powerplay less than two minutes later but couldn’t breach the Glasgow defences.
The Clan needed no further invitation when they had a powerplqy of their own though, Gauthier (18.33) getting his second of the game to send the home team into the first intermission firmly in control.
Matt Lane (20.50) got the Panthers back into the game early in the scond frame before Matthew Myers (26.01) tied things up with a trademark tip in front on the powerplay.
Sean Richards showed great strength & determination to get by a Clan defenceman & spring Myers (35.13) who made no mistake one-on-one with Starrett to send Nottingham into the final period holding a one-goal advantage.
Gauthier (44.13) completed his hat trick to send the game to overtime, Nottingham’s penalty kill unit have to come twice inside the last ten minutes to ensure the game went to the extra period, but it was the Panthers who took the second point home with them when Christophe Boivin laid the puck off for Jeremy Welsh (61.14) who beat the Clan netminder with a fine finish to seal a four-point weekend for The Nottingham Panthers.
