Newark Urge Fans To Back The Town

Ten months after the appointment of Nathan Arnold as Newark Town manager the club currently find themselves on the brink of the double, sitting top of the Step 7, Black Dragon Central Midlands Premier Division North, and into the final of the Nottinghamshire Senior Trophy.

League leaders, Newark Town, are enjoying a successful season and host second place, Retford United this Wednesday, 20 April at the YMCA Sports Village.

With only one promotion slot available this is a game that will play a pivotal role in deciding which of these two clubs could potentially progress to Step 6 of the national football pyramid for next season.

Newark Manager, Nathan Arnold, said: “The excellent support I have had from the volunteers at Newark Town has enabled me, and my staff, to focus on the development of this ambitious group of players.

“We are four wins away from becoming league champions, and a cup final away from lifting the Notts Senior Trophy.

“It is times like this that we need supporters to be the twelfth man, and help us over the line.

“And, whether you are a Newark Town supporter, a Lincoln or Forest fan or even Manchester United, I urge you to get behind local football and give this team the support it deserves, as we strive for promotion.”

Steff Wright, CEO of the Gusto Group, and whom underpinned the appointment of Nathan Arnold added: “He is really pleased with the way the season has progressed.

“Nathan has brought together an ambitious group of staff and a great bunch of players who have developed quickly and are proving themselves in what is a very competitive league.”

An exciting time for football in Newark, there are presently, ongoing with talks between that of Newark Town, Newark Flowserve, the YMCA and the local council, as the two, senior Saturday sides, look at the option of ground sharing, at the YMCA, from the start of the 2022-23 season.

With supporters from all Newark clubs getting behind Newark Town, promotion could mean that football fans will, for the first time, be able to watch both Step 5 and 6 football, on alternative Saturday’s in Newark.

Newark Town play host to Retford United in the CML Premier North, this Wednesday, 20 April, at the YMCA Sports Village Stadium, Newark, kick-off scheduled for 19:45.
