County Beaten For First Time

Dorking Wanderers 3-1 Notts County (National League) 17.09.22

It was a disappointing day in Dorking for Notts County as the Magpies lost their first National League game of the season to their newly promoted opponents.

James McShane the home team hero with a hat-trick in a match heading into injury time, which looked for large parts like a point shared for Notts.

Two goals on the ninetieth minute mark swaying the tie away, a sad outcome on a day where Notts never really got going.

McShane’s first came on 19 when he coolly lobbed Slocombe from 25 yards.

Cedwyn Scott levelled five minutes into the second half after cutting inside and smashing a shot in off the post, and that’s how it stayed until the clock struck 90.

McShane hitting a post with the ball falling back kindly to the striker to nudge over the line.

As Notts pushed desperately for a second leveller, space opened up and Ryan Seagers shot was saved by Slocombe with the ball again falling kind to McShane who wrapped things up from close range to send the home fans wild.
