Beeston hockey club have further strengthened their squad for the 2023/2024 season with the addition of Katie Mason, Julia Spence and Pip Amos.
The new signings were not registered in time for the first game of the season but will be available for selection for the rest of the season.
Mason joins from Division 1 side Leicester City and where head coach James Sordillo previously worked, “I have been a fan of Katie for a long time now. The time wasn’t right before but I’m delighted to be able to bring Katie to the club now. She is an excellent player and a brilliant person”.
On joining Beeston Mason commented “Im really excited about joining Beeston and joining up with such a talented group of players and seeing what I can do”.
Spence and Amos join from Premier Division rivals Loughborough University.
Sordillo said of the additions, “they are excellent characters and fantastic additions to the squad. Both have come in and been really positive and added to the culture of the group”
Spence added “Im so excited to be joining the Beeston family and can’t wait to see what the season has to offer” Amos continued “Im excited to be joining a great group of girls, im looking forward to a successful and enjoyable season”.
With these additions Sordillo doesn’t expect any more additions to the squad. Mason, Amos and Spence make it seven new additions to the squad for the new season and they join Martha Wong, Lottie Summers, Lucy Mackey and Angela Chilwell.
On the squad Sordillo told us “It’s a really talented group of athletes with a wide range of characters who play off each other really well. The environment is the biggest thing for us and all our of the additions add to our environment and culture. It is a long season and you need depth to be able to cope and compete and I am really happy with the squad we have pulled together”.
Beeston ladies 1s face the reigning champions East Grinstead at 4pm on Saturday 23rd September at the Nottingham Hockey Centre.
