Cup Draws

With matches coming thick-and-fast, both in the men’s, and women’s beautiful game, the draws have been done for the next round of both the national, and county competitions.

Following recent matches, and several competitions already having seen a number of rounds played, there’s still a decent number of clubs from within Nottinghamshire’s county borders, partaking (the FA Cup will see that of Mansfield Town, Notts County, and Nottingham Forest, enter at a later date).

Below are the draws for this month, October 2023, across numerous competitions, with Worksop Town (replay aside) still in both the FA Cup and FA Trophy, and could have a very pivotal month ahead in what has been a long history.

The FA Challenge Cup (Fourth Qualifying Round, to be played 14/10/23)

Blyth Spartans/Worksop Town vs. Boston United

Worksop Town need to overcome a home replay, following a 1-1 draw in the first game, with cup giants/giant-killers, Blyth Spartans, to earn a home tie in the next round with Boston United.

The FA Trophy (Third Qualifying Round, 07/10/23)

Worksop Town vs. Stocksbridge Park Steels; Stratford Town vs. Basford United

The Tigers are also still in the FA Trophy and have a home tie with Stocksbridge to come at the weekend, whilst the Ambers are away to Stratford Town

The FA Vase (First Round Proper, 21/10/23)

Kimberley Miners Welfare vs. Highgate United; Newark & Sherwood United vs. Wellingborough United; Cogenhoe United vs. Eastwood; Stourport Swifts vs. Sherwood Colliery

There’s still local interest in this season’s FA Vase as the competition reaches the First Round, two at home and two away with Kimberley Miners Welfare and Newark & Sherwood both facing home ties, whilst Eastwood, and the UCL Premier North leaders, Sherwood, are on the road later this month.

The next round of the Women’s FA Cup takes place the day after the FA Vase, and there’s also a good chunk of local interest in this years’ competition with four of the six sides having home games to come. Notts County, following promotion to the National League last season, will host Loughborough Lightning, and there’s a nice road trip for Mansfield Town as they head to Doncaster Rovers Belles.
