Bees Reach Final Again

Beeston Ladies are set for a third consecutive cup final. The University Boulevard based hockey team is poised to make sporting history as they prepare for their third consecutive appearance in the national cup final. The women’s first team, representing Beeston Hockey Club, is aiming to become the first-ever squad to secure three consecutive national cup titles.

Head Coach James Sordillo will lead the team for the final time in this landmark match, as he will be stepping down at the end of the season.

Coach Sordillo, reflecting on the significance of the occasion, stated, “We are looking forward to the opportunity to create history. This squad has achieved the club’s two highest league finishes in its history, and after a disappointing relegation, it will be nice to finish with one final national cup title.”

A national cup victory would cap off a challenging season for Beeston, which saw the team relegated from the Premier Division on goal difference on the final day of the season, after finishing 5th in both 2023 and 2022 which was a record highest finish for the club. The players are determined to end the season on a positive note by securing the prestigious cup title. Beeston Ladies 1st XI will face off against Holcombe in the national cup final on Monday, 6th May at the Lee Valley Tennis and Hockey Centre.

Founded in 1907, Beeston Hockey Club is renowned for its rich history and commitment to field hockey excellence. The club, based in Beeston, England, proudly hosts its home games at the Nottingham Hockey Centre and is affectionately known as the Bees.
