Ollerton Up To Eighth With Win
Ollerton Town won for the second time in their last ten outings, and, in doing so, moved up to eighth in the Central Midlands Alliance Premier North (although having played more than those around them).
There was also victory for Blidworth Welfare, when on the road at Rossington Main, as both Notts clubs won 3-2, the pair looking to move strongly into the second half of the season, as for the Worksop derby, that finished honours even as Worksop Town Reserves and SJR Worksop battled to a 2-2 draw at Sandy Lane.
Back in Ollerton, the ten-man hosts led by two goals at the break after Vlad Nittiss headed home an Ashley McEwan free-kick after eleven minutes, then McEwan bent a sublime effort into the top corner five minutes before the break.
Between the two goals being scored, Town found themselves down to ten men when shot-stopper Josh Watson was dismissed for a foul, Gareth Briggs taking over in the sticks.
Glapwell pulled a goal back immediately after the restart, and, following a flurry of changes, the two-goal advantage was quickly restored, despite the visitors having struck the Town crossbar (again), Adam Scott finding room and firing home the third in the closing stages.
The visitors made things interesting by adding a second with minutes remaining, the referee overruling his linesman’s decision to allow the goal to stand, but ten-man Town held on for the points.
Ollerton Town – Josh Watson, Charlie Reece, Jamie Plawecki, Sam Stretton, Vlad Nittiss, Regan Edridge, Freddie, Norris, Ashley McEwan, Harry Limb, Lewis Neville, Adam Scott (subs – Gerasimov, Askwith, Solomon, Briggs, Geeves)
Blidworth won by the same score when on the road at lowly Rossington Main, goals coming from Liam Carver, Archie Ward, and substitute Benjamin Copestake – they also finishing with ten following a red for Triston Burrell.
As for the Worksop derby, over Sandy Lane, Alex Russell and Oscar Clarke netted for the hosts, whilst former Town players, Aaron Redfern and Aaron Pickersgill, netted for SJR and earn a share of the spoils.
The two sides remain in tenth and thirteenth place respectively.
There wasn’t much to look at in the Premier South for Notts-based clubs however, Linby Colliery Welfare, courtesy of a Ewan Gibson penalty, drawing 1-1 at South Normanton Athletic, and goals from James Beardow and Grant Mitchell affording Mansfield Hosiery Mills a 2-2 draw at home to Gresley Rovers Reserves, the two standout scores.
In the other two games, Arnold Town lost 3-2 away to AFC Normanton, and Teversal were dismantled 6-1 when at Graham Street Prims.
There were also plenty of goals netted for clubs across Division One, SJR Worksop Development progressing in the Sheffield & Hallamshire FA Tophy, following a 4-3 win away to Houghton Main Veterans Over-35s, and Long Bennington progressed to the Third Round of the Division One Cup with a 6-1 win away to Armthorpe Welfare Development.
As for league games, there was plenty of action seen on Division One East, leaders Shirebrook Soldiers putting third place Mansfield Hosiery Mills Blue to the sword, with a 7-0 home win – Joshua Brentnall, Ben Charlesworth, and Kieran Darby, all bagged braces for the victors, whilst substitute Tyler Foster also chipped in with a goal.
Second place Ashland Rovers also fell to defeat, they losing 3-1 at lowly Newark-based side, lowly RHP Sports & Social, Callum Chilvers, Sebastian Headley, and Aiden Homer for the hosts, Nathan Harrison replying.
Eastwood & Kimberley are fourth following their 4-1 win away to Pilsley Community, James Coleman netting twice, whilst the game between mid-table Blidworth Welfare Reserves, and lowly Linby Colliery Reserves, finished in a 2-2 draw.
Division Two meanwhile would see a goalless draw for Ashland Rovers Reserves, when on the road at fifth place Markeaton.
