NSL Round Up – Grace Hit Five

FCV Grace Dieu continued their march towards the Nottinghamshire Senior League Premier Division title on Saturday afternoon, following a comfortable, 5-0 home win, against third bottom Dunkirk AFC.

Victory for the leaders was their nineteenth of what has been an impressive season thus far, golas coming via Cornelius Olajide-Oriowo, Harrison Holland, Sidney Turner, Spencer Weir-Daley, and an own-goal, thus opening a sixteen-point lead on second place Cotgrave, who’ve four games in hand, the top two having both lost just once each as they head into the business end.

Collingham, sitting third, fell further off the pace when they lost 3-0 away to mid-table Wollaton, Benjamin Reed with a brace alongside a goal from Andrew Thompson, denting perhaps what could still be a top three finish for the visitors.

Plenty of goals were netted elsewhere also, FC Cavaliers claiming a 7-2 success when home to Woodthorpe Park Rangers, braces coming from Shaoib Goodall, Rio Murray, and Zibusio Sibanda, Dalton Stephens grabbing a consolation pair for the visitors.

Aidan Loscalzo and Greg McLean were both on target twice in Aslockton & Orston’s 6-1 home win over West Bridgford Reserves to move into fourth place, whilst both FC Sez and Awsworth Cilla, won 4-0 at home, over Beeston, and Radcliffe Olympic.

The remaining Premier Division game saw Keyworth United win 2-1 away to Ruddington Village, the visitors looking for a top five finish themselves.

In Division One it was a battle of the top two on Saturday afternoon, leaders Kimberley Miners Welfare Reserves being held to a 1-1 draw away to East Leake Robins, and Bingham Town sit third following their 3-1 home win over Clifton All Whites Reserves.

Rushcliffe moved into fourth, leapfrogging their visitors AC United, whom they beat 4-2, Callum Baker notching two for the victors, and AFC Colsterworth, despite being sixteen points off the leaders in sixth place, have four games in hand on three of the sides above them, and eased to a 5-0 road win at bottom club Beeston Old Boys Association, Eathan Milne with two of the goals.

There were also, two seven-goal thrillers, both going in favour of the way sides, Bilborough TRD winning 4-3 at Keyworth United Reserves, and Meden Vale Colts doing the same when at Pass Move Grin Excel, whilst Stapleford Town Reserves won 3-1 away to Ravenshead.

In the Intermediate Cup, Hucknall Town Reserves took their place in the last four with a 4-1 home win over AJ Sport, Trevell Lindo with a brace, and the Junior Cup saw both Collingham Reserves (3-1 at Newark & Sherwood United Development), and Ravenshead Reds (4-3 on penalties following a 2-2 draw at AFC Warriors Development), move into the final four.

The top three sides in Division Two all picked up victories, leaders Elston United leading the way with a comfortable, 5-1 win, at FC Pelican, Notts Olympic edged visiting Greyfriars 2-1, at Gedling Southbank, for whom Stephen King scored twice, won 3-1 at Reindeer FC.

There were also five goals scored at Eagle Valley as Arnold Town Reserves won 3-2 against visitors FC Cavaliers Reserves; Liam Cunningham scored twice for the hosts, along with a goal from Angelo Georgiou, the visitors replying via Deshon Reif, and substitute George Yeboah.
