Final Straight For Blidworth & Linby
Focus for both Blidworth Welfare (Central Midlands Alliance Premier North) and Linby Colliery Welfare (Central Midlands Alliance Premier South) now turns to the Nottinghamshire FA Senior Trophy final this coming week, both sides coming through their weekend games relatively unscathed.
Blidworth are chasing a top-five finish in the North, and were held to a goalless draw when home to lowly AFC Phoenix; they’re still within touching distance of both Staveley Miners Welfare Reserves (fourth) and Hatfield Town (third), with a handful of games remaining.
Linby meanwhile, they are in a four-way battle for runners-up spot in the South, and eased to a 4-1 success away to Mickleover Reserves, all four of their goals coming in the first half via a Zach Hamilton brace, and one apiece for Ethan Fells and Spencer Pollitt.
Also in the South, Teversal continued their battle for survival following a late draw at home to Holbrook Sports, Joshua Parfitt again netting, whilst there was defeat for both Arnold Town, and Mansfield Hosiery Mills.
Mid-table Arnold actually led 2-1 at one point, through Gerrard Hallam and George Harrold, but the visitors struck back to claim the points, the hosts looking for a top ten finish.; Mansfield Hosiery Mills meanwhile were beaten 3-0 away to high-fliers Melbourne Dynamo, for whom Isaac Nknumah scored twice.
The other game in Premier North saw Ollerton Town felled, 5-1, when at title-chasing Doncaster City; Harvey Limb had given the visitors an early lead, and the sides had gone in level at the break, but Town suffered a second half collapse as Lance Friedrich came off the bench for a late brace.
Division One North saw SJR Worksop Development brush aside visiting Armthorpe Welfare Development, 6-1, as they push for a top three finish, Regan Millard and Thomas Paintain both netting braces.
Whilst in Division One East there’s still plenty to play for, except for the title that is, that belongs to Shirebrook Soldiers; of those in action meanwhile, Long Bennington won 2-0 away to Linby Development at the bottom end of the table, and Kirton Brickworks slipped up when losing 4-2 at Pilsley Community.
