NSL Round Up – Beeston Reserves Claim Title
The EuroSoccer Nottinghamshire Senior League Premier Division title was decided on Saturday afternoon, whilst the Division Three trophy was lifted; FCV Grace Dieu winning the former, and Beeston Reserves lifting the latter.
In the Premier, FCV finally saw off the challenge of Cotgrave, who’ve been chasing them all season long, after the former won 2-0 away to Awsworth Villa, and the latter were held to a 1-1 draw at battling Wollaton.
Those two results mean that, going into the final two games of the season, the champions hold a nine-point advantage after Lee Williamson had afforded them the lead inside the first ten minutes of the game, before Jerrell Sellars wrapped up both the points, and the title, with fifteen to go.
Meanwhile, down in Division Three, Beeston Reserves, who’ve romped to the title and hold a double-figure advantage on the rest following their 2-1 win at home to joint fourth place Langwith Whitestar, Cameron Godfrey and Yoan Penkov with the goals.
The Division One title race is still in the balance after PMG Excel won 3-2 away to title hopefuls Kimberley Miners Welfare Reserves, whilst challenges are coming from third place Colsterworth, and fourth place Bingham Town, who have games in hand.
There were five different scorers in the Kimberley versus PMG game, Bradley Mee and Lewis Deavin for the hosts, with the visitors netting via Noah Tesfalem, Bachir Tyera, and Musa Jawara; Colsterworth won 2-0 at Sandiacre, whilst second place East Leake Robins picked up a 2-0 win at Keyworth United Reserves.
Division Two on the other-hand have Elston United in the drivers’ seat, and Gedling Southbank poised in second, two points behind, with a game to go; the leaders were held to a 1-1 draw at Reindeer, whilst second place won 4-0 away to Arnold Town Reserves.
Elsewhere in the NSL, over in the Premier Division, Southwell City won 5-1 away to Borrowash Victoria, Felix Eckert with a brace for the victors, FC Cavaliers won 4-0 at home to Radcliffe Olympic, and Collingham won 4-1 against visitors Woodthorpe Park Rangers.
The remaining Division One games would see William Abbs score twice in Ravenshead’s 3-0 win away to Beeston Old Boys Association, whilst Stapleford Town Reserves and Hucknall Town Reserves finished level.
In Division Two, FC Pelican won 4-1 at FC Cavaliers Reserves, whilst in Division Three there was a 2-1 win for Parabellum at Cotgrave Reserves, whilst there was a 2-2 draw between Ravenshead Reds and Rushcliffe Reserves.
As for the Development Division, Warriors won 4-1 at home to Attenborough and Newark & Sherwood beat Red Sea 3-2 in Group A, and Linby saw off visiting Pegasus 4-1, Blake Wainwright and Jake Parker netting braces in Group B.
