Krejcikova & Ostapenko Announced For Open
Former Grand Slam champions Barbora Krejcikova and Jelena Ostapenko are among the world class talent set to compete at this summer’s Lexus Nottingham Open, as the WTA entry list is confirmed by the LTA.
Former Wimbledon ladies’ singles champion Krejcikova is set to make her first appearance in Nottingham, as she bids to claim her first WTA title since her triumph at SW19 two years ago. The two-time Grand Slam champion has proven to be a strong performer on grass in recent years and will be among the contenders heading into this year’s tournament.
More Grand Slam pedigree joins the line-up in the form of Jelena Ostapenko. The 2017 French Open champion, whose career-high ranking is world no. 5, is no stranger to the grass, having also captured titles in Eastbourne in 2021 and Birmingham in 2023.
Both Krejcikova and Ostapenko will have to face stern competition, with previous Nottingham champions McCartney Kessler (2025) and Karolina Pliskova (2016) looking to regain their Lexus Nottingham Open singles titles. 2025 HSBC Championships winer Tatjana Maria, 2024 Olympic Gold Medallist Qinwen Zheng, and 2021 US Open finalist Leylah Fernandez are also set to feature at the Lexus Nottingham Tennis Centre.
Alongside American rising star Iva Jovic who was announced earlier this month, 18 of the world’s top 50 players are set to head to the East Midlands. The full entry list can be found on the LTA website.
The Lexus Nottingham Open stages a WTA 250 event, alongside an ATP Challenger 125 event. The entry list for the men’s ATP Challenger event will be announced later in May.
Amy Hitchinson, Tournament Director of the Lexus Nottingham Open, said, “The Lexus Nottingham Open has always attracted players of the highest calibre, and this year is no different. With three Grand Slams and 67 WTA singles titles between them, this year’s WTA entry list is one of the strongest yet, and a sure sign that fans will be in for a fantastic week of tennis next month.”
