Derby Day For Forest
No question where the biggest game of the weekend is as Nottingham Forest host bitter rivals Derby County at the City Ground tomorrow lunch time as they look to not only earn maximum points in their Championship challenge but also aim to retain the Brian Clough Trophy for the third successive match.
Forest have already beaten Derby this season after thumping the Rams 3-0 in the Carabao League Cup but this time the two sides will be at full strength with no excuses off the back of good wins at the weekend which will set the occasion up nicely for both sets of supporters.
Derby County come into the game having beat Middlesbrough last time out but it is their away form which is most alarming having failed to win in their last eight league and cup games away from Pride Park since their opening day win of the season at Huddersfield.
Forest however haven’t been that great at home either this season and lie 17th in the form table with three wins a draw and two defeats at the City Ground but when it comes to the league standings they look to have advantage going into the game as they sit just five points away from leaders West Bromwich Albion in fifth spot having beat Luton last weekend.
Phillipe Cocu’s men are 15th and a defeat will no doubt put further pressure on the Dutchman who will be without Nottingham born Tom Huddlestone and Scottish International Ikechi Anya whilst Forest could welcome back Michael Dawson with Reds Coach Sabro Lamouchi suggesting “It will be an emotional game, a tough game, a tactical game against a very difficult opponent. Not just because of the rivalry but because both teams are similar. We need to be ready, we are ready so we now need to enjoy it and to give our best for the best result.”
Supporters are urged to bring their scarves and support the side especially for the pre-game rendition of Mull of Kintyre with Lamouchi saying “I do not need to fire up the players, they know absolutely how important the game is for the fans. Our players want what the fans want – the victory.”
Kick off is at 12:30pm with the match sold out it is however live on Sky Sports for those that can’t make it.
