Both Notts County and Mansfield Town are in FA Cup action tomorrow whilst Basford United also have Wembley hopes and are involved in the FA Trophy.
The Stags host National League side Chorley who beat Spennymoor in the fourth qualifying round to make the First Round for their third successive season in the competition but the Magpies as they are known have never been beyond Round One and will be looking to make history against a team that will be without Hayden White, Kristian Pearce and Craig Davies.
Good news for the Stags though as Danny Rose returns following an ankle injury to add more firepower to a side that has no shortage of goals in them. Mansfield’s issue has been largely at the other end this season conceding too many but with Chorley at the foot of National League having scored only 14 goals in 20 games it may be a chance for John Dempster’s men to shore things up.
Shoring things up defensively this week have been Notts County who’ve added centre back Alex Lacey to their ranks. Neal Ardley’s men face Ebbsfleet in the FA Cup on Saturday as they look to reach round two.
The two sides have already played each other this season with the match ending 2-2 in Kent but since then Notts have lost only three of their last fifteen matches whilst Ebbsfleet have largely struggled this season and sit in the relegation places in the National League, they have however picked up two wins and a draw from their last three league games and are unbeaten in five in all competitions.
Finally also in cup action this weekend are Basford United who take on FC United of Manchester in the second qualifying round of the FA Trophy. Manager Steve Chettle will be looking for more of the same after beating FC 3-1 in Manchester last month with defender Steff Galinski scoring a header remarkably from inside his own half.
Basford recently signed striker Ash Worsfold from Gainsborough Trinity in what was said to be a four figure transfer fee.
