Four Star Forest Go Fourth

Queens Park Rangers 0-4 Nottingham Forest (EFL Championship) 27.11.19

Nottingham Forest achieved their biggest away win in some years as they trounced Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road last night to move up to fourth place in the Championship.

The Reds got off to a perfect start in the opening 15 minutes of the match when Tobias Figueiredo headed in at the back post from a corner and in an end to end first half might have doubled their advantage when Worrall turned and shot with Ameobi only inches away from connecting to turn it past the keeper.

QPR’s best chances came from the lively Ryan Manning who got forward well down the left with Samba making two routine saves between bailing out a mix up from Worrall and Watson.

Forest went in at the break ahead and looking to counter attack at every opportunity and were given a major boost five minutes into the second half when Wallace fouled Lolley on the edge of the area to be shown the red card.

Down to ten men QPR still pushed for the leveller and Scowen headed wide before Wells forced a good save from Samba from a free kick before Figueiredo almost produced a carbon copy of his goal heading a back post corner across the face only to be cleared from off the line.

On 81 minutes though Forest did get their goal when Ameobi danced down the left to tee up Grabban for his eighth league goal of the season which all but finished off the game.

Forest assured the points would all go back to Nottingham when substitute Carvalho ran through to poke home with individual swagger before Alfa Semedo tapped home after Lumley in goal spilled for Ameobi to square to the Portuguese man who smashed into the empty net and gave Forest their biggest away win since March 2012 when they beat Leeds United 7-3.

After the game Manager Sabri Lamouchi delighted with the win stated “I have to congratulate the players as they respected the opponent, they respected the game and they tried to score the second, the third and fortunately we got four. It is the first time we have scored four this season and one more clean sheet.”

“We have had two games away after Bristol and tonight, with two clean sheets and four points but we have to keep working and keep going.”

Forest’s next match is at home to Cardiff City on Saturday with Lamouchi optimistic about another three points that could further the clubs promotion ambitions saying “Cardiff will be another tough game, completely different from tonight but with the full support of The City Ground we want to take maximum points.”

“Our support is just amazing, not just tonight but every game from the beginning. I am so surprised week after week, game after game and we want them to keep going.”
