Panthers Take On Top Two

Nottingham Panthers are in action tomorrow night in Scotland as they take on second placed Glasgow Clan in the Elite League knowing a win could move the Panthers up from seventh to fifth ahead of Coventry and Fife in the playoff race.

The Panthers form of late has been impressive with eight wins from their last ten games only losing 3-2 to Ferencvarosi in the Continental Cup and in over time last weekend against Sheffield Steelers.

Players have hit form which coincided with the signing of Canadian forward Julian Talbot with Brett Perlini netting four goals at the weekend taking his league tally to ten for the season with Sam Herr on eight he has 21pts including 13 assists.

On Saturday netminder Kevin Carr made a stunning one handed save diving to his right to further boost his recent performance statistics saving 91.53% of shots faced against him in the Elite League this season and then there’s Brett Bulmer who’s adjusting to life quietly going about his business in Nottingham after moving from Fife where he scored 26 goals and had 32 assists last season.

Bulmer stated on Panthers Radio ahead of the weekends game which also features a Sunday evening visit of Sheffield Steelers “two big games and I think we’ll be ready, doesn’t matter who it is in this league every night we want to win”

After an absence of 21 days from the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham will be ready and waiting for top of the table Sheffield on Sunday with Director of Hockey Guy Doucet suggesting “It’s a big weekend for us taking no 1 and no 2 in the league and gives us a chance for us to prove we can compete” Doucet said “Sunday coming back home, it’s been a while since we’ve been back playing in front of our fans so against Sheffield it will be nice”

Captain Sam Herr when asked ahead of facing the top two simply said “If you want to be the best you have to beat the best”

On reflection the Panthers were happy to get the job done in Manchester last time out despite not playing to the best and in taking three points out of four on offer it puts them in good shape to face this weekends table toppers with Friday nights trip to Glasgow facing off at 7:30pm Sunday nights showdown against the Steelers is at 4pm with the last couple of hundred tickets still available.
