Forest Through In Cup Thriller

Nottingham Forest Women are through to the third round of the FA Cup after beating Derby County Ladies in a thrilling tie at Micleover Sports.

Forest won 3-2 to go seven wins on the bounce in all competitions and after a hard fought game they will now face Burnley or Hull in the next round of the competition scheduled for Sunday 5th January 2020.

The Reds got off to the perfect start after just six minutes when Olivia Cook headed home a corner from Rayner and it was 2-0 when Harkin unleashed a superb effort to beat the goalkeeper from all of 30 yards.

In an entertaining first half Derby pulled one back on 25 when Sims smashed home from inside the box but Forest took a slender lead into the break knowing a rams onslaught would be expected in the second half.

That soon came and just minutes after the restart it was 2-2 as Domingo shot past Aguirre to level the scores but Forest attacked back as Rayner crashed a bar from 20 yards out.

Forest pushed for a winner as Fisher went close before Precious Hamilton hit two chances wide and as time drew out it was Precious luck for Forest on 86 as Hamilton curled in a stunning drive to put the reds in charge before clinging on for a fantastic victory.

The Reds second away win at Derby this season and for the second time it was a Precious Hamilton winning goal against the Rams.

Forest now must wait to see the winners of Burnley or Hull knowing another tricky away tie awaits but one in which the side will be confident of winning.
