Robin Hood Marathon Cancelled

The 2020 Robin Hood Half Marathon originally planned for September this year has been cancelled for safety reasons following a coronavirus hit summer of turmoil that has left the competitions organisation in ruins.

Originally earmarked for Sunday 27th September, this year’s edition was said to the 40th running of the event with anniversary celebrations in place along some of the most scenic routes across the city from the Trent Embankment to Wollaton Park and back.

On announcing the cancellation of this year’s marathons along with the postponement of its 40th celebration the event organisers stated “It is with a heavy heart that we must postpone our 40th anniversary celebrations to September 2021.”

The event has been going since 1981 and has held 39 men and women’s half marathons (as well as the full marathon from 1982-2017), often attracting hundreds of runners and thousands of pounds raised each year in charity.

As well as the half marathon being postponed this year the mini marathon and mile challenge have also been put back until 2021.
