Beeston Hockey Club’s young international star Gareth Griffiths has been nominated for a talented athlete award by TASS the talented athlete scholarship scheme.
The youngster has been shortlisted in the ‘Most Committed’ category for athletes showing true dedication to sport and study after a fabulous year at Nottingham University capped off on the pitch by playing a part in England Hockey’s best Junior Euro Hockey result in 20 years.
Having also played for the GB U21 team that won the Sultan of Johar Cup verses India, Griffiths will find out today if he’s been a successful winner following his nomination.
In other Bees news the club have had a successful few days holding a World Class Players Camp at the Nottingham Hockey Centre with some fun and safe coaching for kids on offer.
Beeston Ladies have appointed Lauren Burrell as their captain for next season with the 24 year-old now in her fourth season at the club stating “I’m really excited to be named as captain. I’m looking forward to seeing where we can go as a squad. We have a great group of players and I can’t wait to get back out on the pitch and play alongside them again.”
