Newark born boxer Chad Sugden will fight live on free-to-air television on Saturday night as he faces Shakan Pitters for the British Light Heavyweight title.
Former kick boxer Sugden who has 11 wins from 13 fights professionally, drew with the much rated Craig Richards in an eight round bout at the York Hall in December earning rave reviews in a match up where he was expected to lose and now he faces the highly regarded Pitters who has won all of his 13 fights so far.
The Birmingham born boxer will be favourite against Sugden for the vacant British title with the fight main billing on Channel 5 which starts at 10pm and includes fights involving a number of local boxers in particularly from the West Midlands.
Ahead of the fight Sugden stated “It’s good to be in the mix and now I’m hoping I can go even further and win the title.”
He said “After this next fight I’m hoping that people don’t just look at me as a good contender, they see me as a champion and someone who can guide the way on the UK Light Heavyweight scene.”
The fight has been rescheduled from March following the original cancellation that came as the UK went into lockdown with ‘The Body Snatcher’ from Newark hoping that his punching to the body will overcome the long reach and six inch height defecit imposed by his opponent.
