A man who Nigel Clough knows from his time at Burton Albion is Irish international Stephen Quinn, now 34, and now a Mansfield Town footballer after signing on loan from the Pirelli Stadium until the end of the season.
Quinn has over played 70 times in the football league for Burton and has represented his country on 18 occasions, a midfielder who can play a number of positions is one that will bring a touch of quality and some vital experience to the Stags line-up as they aim to climb the League Two table. Quinn has Premier League experience and featured for Hull City in their 2014 FA Cup final defeat against Arsenal with over 50 games in the top-flight in English football to his collection.
Originally found playing for St Patricks in the League of Ireland, Quinn joined Sheffield United in 2005 before going on to play 237 times for the Blades. After his move to Hull City, he gained promotion with the Tigers in his first season before joining Reading after three years at the KC and following three further seasons in Berkshire, joined Nigel Clough’s Burton in 2018.
This season Quinn has played 22 times for the Brewers but with new Manager Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink in charge it was apparent that the Dublin born player would not be in the Dutchman’s immediate plans, paving a way for his old boss to snap up his services for the remainder of the season.
Quinn is likely to be available for selection a week on Saturday as Mansfield visit Southend United in their next league match.
