Nottingham Stunned By Late Try Defeat

Hartpury 15-13 Nottingham (RFU Championship) 10.04.21

It was agonising defeat for Nottingham Rugby who are noticeably getting closer to that first league win of the season but a super late try would snatch victory from the jaws of Hartpury defeat in a tight, tough and tense battle in Gloucestershire.

It started so well too, an early try for Michael Stronge after six minutes although a missed conversion that would in the end proved one of two chances missed to take something from the game.

Hartpury bounced back with a penalty goal from Bragman before a Smith try on 20 was converted for a 10-5 half time lead.

Nottingham pressed in a strong second half and scored a penalty on 65 through Dolly before replacement Manihera got a debut try, Dolly missing the conversion but Nottingham 13-10 up.

That was how it lasted until the final minute, Hartpury pressed and pressed as the Green and Whites defended but the away side finally conceded with a gap opening up, Clementson with the winning try on 80 to snatch victory away from Neil Fowkes boys.

The result leaves Nottingham still rooted to the foot of the table with four defeats from four games played.
