Wildcats To Face Mystics In Playoffs

Nottingham Wildcats won against Newcastle Eagles on Saturday in the WBBL Championship before losing against Durham Palatinates on Sunday to guarantee fourth spot with a game to play and set up a Playoff Quarter Final tie against Manchester Met Mystics.

The Wildcats end their divisional season at Oaklands Wolves on Wednesday knowing that they’ll be in the playoffs against a side they have beaten four times already this campaign.

On Saturday the Wildcats beat the Eagles 85-74 in Nottingham with Simone Costa on top form scoring 26 and Chelsey Shumpert netting 24 with an impressive 11 rebounds and 5 assists.

On Sunday, the Wildcats went from leading their tie against Durham to being outscored 21-9 in the final quarter to eventually lose against the Palatinates 69-58.

Chelsey Shumpert and Moa Lundqvist managed twelve points each with Chloe Gaynor heading the rebounds chart with ten, the Wildcats will go to Oaklands in the seasons final game, fourth guaranteed for Nottingham, with Manchester already ending their season in fifth.

The divisional champions for a second year running are Sevenoaks Suns who despite losing their 100% record yesterday, pipped the title above Leicester Riders who beat them, but have already lost two of their twenty games with a worse head to head record as the Suns go into their last match before the playoffs like Nottingham, on Wednesday with nothing but fun and practice to play for.

In the NBL Division One men’s division things didn’t go great for Nottingham on Saturday after they were beaten 101-68 by Hemel Storm.

The Hoods saw 20 points from Ward-Hibbert and 15 from Olarerin but were largely second best against a team who sit third in the league. Nottingham currently crop up the fourteen team league with just two wins and 18 losses from their 20 games played.
