Fowkes Looking To End Season With Win

Head Coach Neil Fowkes will step down from his duties in charge of Nottingham Rugby at the end of the season tomorrow and will look to do so by beating Doncaster Knights in the Green & Whites final game of the campaign in South Yorkshire.

Nottingham head to Donny off the back of two wins which has rescued some light from a miserable shortened campaign that started with seven successive defeats on the bounce.

Last week against Bedford, a stoppage time Alex Dolly penalty in front of a 700 plus crowd at Lady Bay ensured some home fan celebrations and the avoidance of the wooden spoon with a tenth placed lowest finish in the eleven team Championship guaranteed, finishing ahead of bottom of the table Richmond who Nottingham beat the match previous.

Upwards thinking Neil Fowkes side can catch Hartpury and Bedford who sit a point above the Green & Whites in the table, 9th and 8th respectively with a tough match for the Gloucestershire based outfit against Saracens who have an outside chance of the championship whilst the Blues play Ampthill who are comfortable in mid-table.

Nottingham bring in Toby Williams, Joe Browning and Carl Kirwan who replace Aniseko Sio, Luke Mehson and Ollie Chessum from the side that beat Bedford with a 4:30pm kick off scheduled at Castle Park.

The game will be screened live at Lady Bay with live rugby union between Sale and Bristol on in the Archers Bar beforehand with Super League and Champions League also shown later in the night. The Nottingham players will be making an appearance late Saturday night after their short trip from Doncaster, win or lose they’ll be there for drinks where you’ll be able to chat to them on the season gone.
