Obano In At The Bay

Nottingham Rugby have signed forward Suvwe Obano after the big number eight, impressive in summer training, joins the Green & Whites having last season played in the Championship for Ampthill.

Brother of Bath prop Beno and the cousin of England lock Mario Itoje, Obano is a physical presence who will strengthen the Archers back row for the new season ahead.

Obano, who now works as a recruitment consultant alongside playing rugby in England’s second tier, was a previous student at Loughborough University who he also appeared on the pitch for, ending as the sides joint top try scorer in 2020.

Joining Suvwe on signing on at the Bay is Jack Ramshaw, Scott Hall, George Cox and Carl Kirwan who all sign for another year after playing a large proportion of last season’s shortened campaign.

New Head Coach Craig Hammond who is putting his stamp on the side stated “We’re thrilled to be able to keep the likes of Jack Ramshaw, Scotty Hall, George Cox and Carl Kirwan on for another year, and then being able to boost the back row with the signing of Suvwe Obano is great news for Nottingham, with his ball carrying ability. We’re really looking forward to seeing the boys out there.”

Nottingham have also announced two more friendlies to their pre-season schedule which will now start at Coventry on Saturday 28th August. The side then travels to South Wales where they will play Scarlets on September 4th before hosting London Scottish at the Bay on Saturday 11th September.
