It is three wins from three outings for Andi Bell and Mansfield Town Ladies following Sunday’s home destruction of visitors Woodlands Seniors Ladies.
Mansfield’s win would see them move into second place in the East Midlands Women’s Regional League Premier Division, with a game in hand, and three points adrift, from leaders Northampton Town Women, they having won four-from-four, and boast a superior goal difference.
Notching six in each half, the Lady Stags ran riot, their first half goals coming from Bethany Jones, Georgia Gladwin, Shannon Purdy, Nikki Wigman, Ellie Marshall and Jessica Parker; the second half meanwhile was pretty much the same from the dominant hosts, Courtney Caunt scoring twice, Gladwin adding her second also, whilst further goals came from Amy Dawson, Gabriella Foulkes and Victoria Chincharo.
Notts County Women picked up their first win of the season, edging a local affair 3-2 against Rise Park Ladies, coming from behind twice as Shoniqua Barnes, Nya Chambers, and an own-goal, offered up victory, the hosts netting through Beth Guy and Danielle Sanderson.
There would even be time for a special, guest appearance, for County, as young Millie Evans, a future generation for the Pies and playing football herself (at Meden Vale), found herself on the field before the game, mingling, without any shyness, with her heroes – good on you Millie!
County captain, Holly Fowler, said of the win, and of six-year-old Millie and her family’s appearance, afterwards: “Great to see so many familiar faces today, back at Basford on that superb surface!
“Hope to see even more next week for the FA Cup.
“Massive credit to the team showed real character to come back from 2:1 down. Battled ‘til the end and played some great football.”
And for Millie: “Thank you all for coming and supporting us! Was great to have Millie and you all down.
“The action shot of Millie running on the pitch is so good, looks a natural on the pitch in black and white stripes.”
Meanwhile County manager, Adam Dunleavy, added of the occasion: “A huge part of our duty while custodians of this famous shirt! Inspiring the next generation of Notts Fans and future footballers!
“So lovely to finally meet you in person and thank you so much for your support!
Arnold Eagles Ladies moved joint top of Division One North, level with Grimsby Town Women, after the Nottinghamshire club won 7-1 away to Cleethorpes Town Ladies, the goals taking their tally to 23 in three league outings to date.
Natasha Leach opened the scoring for the Eagles early in the first-half followed by a brace from Demi-Leigh Crofts for a three-goal, interval lead before Cleethorpes pulled one back with a little over twenty minutes remaining, after which, the visitors went nap.
Leach would be seen to add two more to register a hat-trick, Crofts also added a third of her own, whilst there was also time for Amy Gauvrit, between Crofts and Leach’s third, also registering, wrapping up a comfortable win against a somewhat demoralised, home side.
Nottingham Trent University Women moved into third place with a comfortable, 3-0 home win over local rivals, Sherwood Women, as Katy Hawkshaw, Amy Seymour-Shove, and substitute Quinn Garner, all registered.
In the remaining fixture, the game between Notts County Women Development and St Joseph’s Rockware of Worksop Women, finished honours even, following a 2-2 draw; Abbie Staples and substitute Caitlin Want registered for the hosts, whilst replies came from
