Nottingham Beat London Scottish
Nottingham 41-31 London Scottish (RFU Championship) 19.11.21
After three straight losses it was a much-needed win for Nottingham on Friday night against bottom of the table London Scottish and in a high scoring encounter, both sides picked up bonus points, for London it was their first of the season.
The away side took an early lead too when Cameron King raced through to touchdown inside five minutes with Shepperd kicking the conversion but Nottingham were immediately back on level terms when Williams finished off a fluid move underneath the posts for Bale to easily kick the extras.
Nottingham took the lead on twelve minutes when Bunting scored his first try for the club, then Graham intercepted a Scottish attack to run the length of the field for a third try both converted to give the Archers a 21-7 lead.
On 28 minutes a surge for the line after some consistent Nottingham pressure was eventually finished off by Michael Stronge with Bale again scoring the conversion, Bale kicking over a penalty to give Nottingham a 31-7 half time lead.
In the second half, George Cox went over for a bonus point try inside seven minutes with the conversion good, Nottingham’s lead increased to 31 points, but credit to London Scottish who had their own resurgence late on, Nutton going over for a converted try on 53 before Fielding went in over the corner to touch down on 59, with eight minutes remaining Pohe again scored although his failure to convert kept the score at arms length, Bale at the other end kicking over a penalty to take the score to 41-24 although a late try by Selway for London Scottish which was converted by May ensured they took their first point of the season, for Nottingham, they stay second bottom but are now level on points with Coventry and well in the pack to catch those above them.
