Dagenham & Redbridge 1-2 Notts County (National League) 19.03.22
Notts County came back from an early setback to snatch all three points in Essex as Harry Arter made his Magpies debut on loan from Forest.
The home side took the lead after just five minutes when Morias beat the offside trap to put the Daggers one up and that lead might have been stretched to two when the same player curled a shot against the crossbar on 22.
Ian Burchnall’s side however responded brilliantly and when Harry Arter curled in a corner on 29, Jeff Lacey rose highest to head home a leveller.
Vincent then shot over from 20 yards before McCallum headed wide on the stroke of half time the best opportunities with the scores level during the first period.
Notts made a double change at half time with Kelly-Evans and Sam entering the field and a niggly start the half saw Wootton and Arter both fail to test the keeper with their efforts.
Arter himself replaced by Francis after an hour, his first competitive game for some time, soon after Notts took a fortuitous lead when Jayden Richardson crossed in a cracking delivery which was put into his own net on 64 by Wright.
McCallum had a couple of immediate chances to level which he wasted, heading over from six yards out before getting on the end of another cross to head into the side netting.
Jaros was then called into action making a terrific save from Miles Weston who’s twenty yard volley looked destined to reach the corner of the net.
More pressure late on was applied to the Notts goal but the away side dug in and grafted for a real backs against the walls victory. A sign that Notts have some steel back after a recent run that has seen them slip out of the playoff zone.
Back to seventh now, the Magpies next face sixth placed Boreham Wood at the Lane on Tuesday night.
