Cotgrave & Grace Dieu Score Four

A brace for Patrick Ferguson, taking his tally to fourteen already this season, helped his Cotgrave side continue their impressive start to the season at the top end of the Euro Soccer Company Nottinghamshire Senior League Premier Division.

On the road at lowly West Bridgford Reserves, Cotgrave stretched their unbeaten start to the campaign to fifteen in all competitions (twelve in the league), this time picking up a 4-0 win; the victory, a fourth clean sheet in their last five and third successive, kept up the pace on leaders FCV Grace Dieu (who won 4-1 at Wollaton).

Ferguson’s brace, taking him to fourteen in just ten outings, was added to by goals from Thomas Spencer and Kieran Diver, the latter with his first of the season, and sees the victors just four points off the leaders, and with a game in hand – oh, and they’ve netted 53 times in all competitions so far.

With five of their next six games at home (includes the County Cup clash with Arnold Town), the table could have a different look to it when 28 December comes around, and Cotgrave travel to Grace Dieu.

Collingham have slipped to third when they suffered a 4-0 loss on the road at mid-table Beeston, David Daminabo with a first-half brace; Michael Moussa was on target twice as Radcliffe Olympic won by the same when home to FC Sez, and Dunkirk won 4-3 at FC Cavaliers in a game which saw seven different scorers.

Two sides in the Premier Division netted five, Borrowash Victoria winning 5-2 at home to Keyworth United, whilst the game between Aslockton & Orston and Woodthorpe Park Rangers saw the net bulge nine times, the hosts winning 5-4.

Both sides would see someone score braces, Aidan Loscalzo for the hosts as they closed the gap on the top five, Jarrod Westcarr with two in reply for Woodthorpe; the remaining game in the top division would see Awsworth Villa and Ruddington Village share the spoils in a 2-2 draw.

Kimberley Miners Welfare Reserves have a five-point advantage in Division One, although played more games than the chasing pack (AFC Colsterworth have four in hand), Kimberley winning 7-4 on the road at Clifton All Whites Reserves as Bradley Mee, and substitute Louis Fazal, both bagged doubles.

Bingham Town, in second, and third placed Colsterworth, shared the spoils in an entertaining, 3-3 draw, Kieran Stanley and Ethan Milne with braces for their respective sides; Meden Vale Colts sit fourth and East Leake Robins fifth at the head of tight, chasing pack.

There were also a pair of big wins on the road in Division One as Rushcliffe won 7-0 at Bilborough TRD, Callum Baker and Jordan Lambert both netting hat-tricks, whilst Hucknall Town Reserves moved above hosts AFC Sandiacre Town, on goal difference, after picking up a 5-0 win, Trevell Lindo the match-winner with a four-goal salvo.

The top four sides in Division Two all picked up victories, they separated by just five points as leaders Gedling Southbank won 3-0 at Southwell City St. Mary’s, Greyfriars edged visiting Rossoneri 3-2, FC Pelican edged a nine-goal thriller away to AJ Sport as Martin McDonagh scored twice for the victors, and Notts Olympic, they romped to an 8-1 win at home to bottom of the table, Calverton Miners Welfare.

Matt Gordon would net twice for the Olympic whilst further goals came via Keith Baraka, Ibrahima Doumbouya, Nile Ions-Hall, Jeremiah Ogie, Ebrahim Sawo, and substitute Thomas Garrido, he netting his first for the club.

The top two in Division Three remain undefeated, although Collingham Reserves dropped points when held to a 1-1 draw at home to Cotgrave Reserves on Friday night, whilst the leaders, Beeston Reserves, hit double figures hosting Nottingham Greens.

The top-versus-bottom clash was pretty much a mismatch as the hosts eased to a 13-1 victory, Mark Green helping himself to a seven-goal haul, alongside a brace from James Murray, they holding a three-point advantage although playing a game more.

Langwith Whitestar, sitting third, also scored big as they won 8-1 away to Trent Vineyard, Owen Biddle with a four-goal salvo along with a brace from Luke Morton, and one each for Jordan Radford and Liam Fearn, George Bradley with the hosts’ consolation early in the second half.

As for the Development Division, Cotgrave progressed in the divisional cup with a 4-2 win at home to West Bridgford, substitute Jacob Murden with a brace for the victors, whilst in the league Newark & Sherwood moved into third with a 4-3 win at second place AFC Warriors, and Pegasus leapfrogged their visitors Linby Colliery Welfare after a 3-2 home win.

As for Red Sea, they collected their second win of the season to move into seventh place, beating joint-bottom hosts, South Notts 4-1, Adam Abdulaziz notching a hat-trick, taking his tally to eight in four, with Ashraf Abdallah also netting.
