Central Midlands Alliance Premier South high-fliers, South Normanton Athletic, have certainly had the number of Notts clubs this season, putting some thirty-eight goals past a combined, Arnold Town (twice), Teversal (twice), and Mansfield Hosiery Mills.
In fact, twenty of those goals have come in their last two games, inflicting season low, ten-goal hammerings, on both Teversal (10-1, Floodlit Cup), and Arnold Town (10-0, Premier South), the latter coming this past weekend.
Samuel Kelly has been on hand to notch seven goals over those two matches, as the lowly Notts clubs succumbed to superior fire-power of their opponents, he notching a four-goal salvo against visiting Teversal last week, and followed it up with a hat-trick against Arnold on Saturday afternoon – they are still to play Linby Colliery Welfare.
The Derbyshire-based outfit have, these past ten days, added two players from the Notts area, Clipstone’s centurion, Eden Homer (pictured), and, on a dual-registration, Rainworth Miners Welfare goalkeeper, Oliver Winfield, the former playing in both of his new sides’ big wins.
They were at AFC Normanton this past Saturday, conceding a 97-minute equaliser after it looked like they’d wrapped up the points, Mason Moore having netted for Linby in what was a 1-1 draw; and Teversal, well they picked themselves up from that midweek thumping, and won only their second game of the season.
Away to fellow relegation candidates, Holbrook Sports, Tevie snatched a huge, 2-1 win, thanks to a brace from Joshua Radford, his second, the decisive goal, coming in the last minute; it was a win that saw them close the gap on fourth-bottom Arnold to just seven points, and move within ten points of those sides in lower mid-table positions.
In the Premier North meanwhile, Ollerton Town suffered a seventh straight loss, this under the Friday Night Lights, when home to Staveley Miners Welfare Reserves, Matas Gerasimov with Town’s consolation in a 4-1 loss.
Meanwhile, Worksop Town Reserves moved up to eleventh in the table, with a comfortable, 2-0 win, away to fellow Notts club, Blidworth Welfare, who are in seventh place, a goal coming in each half via Daniel Gillatt and Josh Sinclair.
No Notts clubs were in action in the CMA Division One North, although there was a fifteen-goal thriller between 780 JLC and Appleby Frodingham, the visitors winning an incredible game, 10-5.
In the CMA East Linby Reserves win 2-1 at home to Mansfield Hosiery Mills Blue thanks to goals from Sam Coxon and Joel Jordan, and Blidworth Welfare Reserves won 3-1 away to RHP Sports & Social, whilst Southwell City Development were on the end of a 7-0 defeat at Pilsley Community, for whom Nathan Flint scored a hat-trick.
Ashland Rovers and Eastwood & Kimberley both exited the Division One Cup, the former losing 5-0 at home to Heanor Town Reserves, and the latter 4-1 at Stapenhill Reserves, and in Division Two, it was defeat for Ashland’s Reserves, going down 3-2 at Rowsley 86 Reserves, Tyler Dangerfield with a brace for Ashland, George Barrington a hat-trick for the victors.
