NSL Round Up – Grace Hit Ten

Cotgrave are just about keeping pace with a rampant, FCV Grace Dieu, atop of the EuroSoccer Nottinghamshire Senior League Premier Division, whilst Collingham’s early challenge is now in real danger of petering out following a heavy defeat.

Having won just one of their last five outings (losing three and drawing one), Collingham suffered a heavy loss away to the leaders this past Saturday, the Leicestershire-based side racking up what was their highest-ever victory, romping to a 10-3 success.

As for second place Cotgrave, they picked up a routing, 4-1 win, when home to mid-table Beeston, to sit four off the leaders, and with a game in hand; for Grace Dieu, Spencer Weir-Daley was on-hand to bag a hat-trick, whilst there were braces for both Hassan Farouq and Lee Williamson, the crest-fallen visitors replied through a Harrison Gomm brace, and a George Asplin penalty.

Meanwhile, at Woodview, the unbeaten start to the season for Cotgrave was stretched to an impressive, seventeen matches (in all competitions), thanks to a brace from Ben Upton (nine in twelve), and one apiece for both Patrick Ferguson (fifteen in twelve) and Stuart Frankland’s first of the season, the top both having high, positive goal-differences, at this early stage.

Awsworth Villa moved into seventh place with a 4-3 home win over top four side, Borrowash Victoria, Kieron Hobday and Gerson Diaz with braces for their respective sides, and Keyworth United are sitting nicely in fifth, following their 3-2 home win over Dunkirk.

Mid-table duo, Wollaton, and Southwell City Reserves, both won on the road, the former picking up a 2-1 win at Ruddington Village, and the latter a 3-1 success at Aslockton & Orston; FC Sez won 1-0 away to West Bridgford Reserves and Woodthorpe Park Rangers and FC Cavaliers played out a goalless draw.

Division One leaders, Kimberley Miners Welfare Reserves, have an eight-point gap on second place Bingham Town, after the former picked up a 3-1 win at home to Beeston Old Boys Association, and the latter lost by the same, when at Stapleford Town Reserves.

Third place Colsterworth Sports & Social also slipped up when they lost 2-0 away to AC United, who are joint-fourth with East Leake Robins, who also lost 3-0 at Hucknall Town Reserves.

Meanwhile the game between Clifton All Whites Reserves and Meden Vale Colts saw eight goals, the former moving within a point of their visitors with a 5-3 win in a game that would see eight, different scorers, and Bilborough TRD drew 2-2 with visitors Ravenshead in the bottom six.

Notts Olympic and Gedling Southbank are joint-top of Division Two, the latter however having two games in hand, as both won on the road at the weekend; Olympic picked up a 3-1 win away to Wollaton Reserves as Julian Cortes bagged a brace, and the latter, 6-2 at Rossoneri as Stephen King scored twice.

Elston United and Greyfriars are joint-third, the former defeating fifth-placed FC Pelican, 5-1, as James Scott scored twice, and the latter, they lost 3-2 at home to AJ Sport, who are sitting sixth.

Beeston Reserves have a six-point advantage atop of Division Three, but have played two more than second place Collingham Reserves, both of whom picked up good wins, the leaders winning 7-0 at home to third bottom Awsworth Villa Reserves, Oluwadamilare Oguntuga with a hat-trick, and substitute Gabriel Rudkin a brace, for the victors.

Dillon Roberts meanwhile scored twice to moved Parabellum into third, on goal-difference, as they won 2-1 at Rushcliffe Reserves, and Ravenshead Reds won big when home to Nottingham Greens, Nicholas Hines and Callum Cossey both netting hat-tricks in their sides’ 9-2 win.

And in the Development Division Attenborough maintained their four-point advantage at the top after they eased to a 6-1 home win over mid-table West Bridgford, Lewis Caine scoring twice; AFC Warriors are second after they narrowly edged visitors Linby CW 2-1, and Newark & Sherwood United, in third, won 8-1 at home to Pegasus.

With two games in hand on the top two, and six off those leaders, Newark & Sherwood continued to boost their goal-difference when scoring four goals in each half, they were helped on their way by an early brace from Lewis Meekings, and a late brace from substitute Leo Wraight, other goals coming from Josh Pollitt, Kalvin Osborn, Lateef Edu, and Tyler Rigley.
