CMA Round Up – Ollerton Beat Main
Despite games across the Division One regional leagues being postponed on Saturday, it was certainly a good afternoon’s work for those residing in the Central Midlands Alliance Premier North, and South.
All five of the Notts clubs in action played at home, four of whom collected victories, whilst the other registered a draw, Arnold Town dropping a couple of points when held to a 2-2 draw against visiting Holborn St Michael’s.
Worksop Town Reserves moved level with Blidworth Welfare, in joint-sixth place, in the Premier North, following their 4-1 win at home to third-bottom AFC Phoenix, whilst Ollerton Town are in eighth after they collected a 3-1 success against visiting Yorkshire Main, the trio within half-a-dozen or so of fourth place, Elite FC.
Shane Carver bagged a first half brace as the Tigers’ second string romped to victory, Tyrese Bailey-Green and a late fourth from Kirk Bradshaw sealing the win; meanwhile, at Ollerton, and with an own-goal sandwiched between, it was to be goals from Harvey Limb and Alex Wilkinson, that won the points.
Premier South sees Linby Colliery Welfare back into third place, four behind second place Graham Street Prims, and ten off leaders South Normanton Athletic (with three games in hand), after a comfortable, 4-0 home win, over mid-table Mickleover Reserves.
Linby netted twice in each half for the win, the visitors affording them an early lead, in the opening ten minutes or so, with Liam Cartledge doubling the advantage on the stroke of half-time.
Greg Conn added the Notts clubs’ third eight minutes after the restart, with the rout completed close to time when Charlie Tassi added a late fourth.
In the bottom half of the table, Arnold Town are sitting in tenth place, this after being held to a 2-2 draw when home to sixth place Holborn St Michaels, the hosts netting via Gerrard Hallam and Aaron Stevenson.
The other game played involving a Notts-based club in the CMA was SJR Worksop Development, of Division One North, who were knocked out of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Trophy competition, 4-2 on penalties, against visiting Wombwell Development.
The cup clash was level after ninety minutes, the two sides locked at ones apiece, before the visitors progressed with victory from twelve yards.
