Martin Paterson’s Notts County picked up another point in EFL League One on Saturday, on the road at former Premier League side, Luton Town, the two sides sharing four goals in an entertaining game at Kenilworth Road.

Both sides netted right before the break, Nakhi Wells putting away a penalty for the hosts after James Gibbons had handled in the box, the lead though last just three minutes, Callum Roberts unleashing a twenty-yard half-volley beyond Josh Keeley.

It was the second twenty-yarder the home shot-stopper had faced, he having tipped an effort from Scott Robertson over the bar earlier on; those two goals would see the Hatters and the Magpies go in level at the break.

In a game which saw a handful of injury stoppages, the hosts losing Jordan Clark in the first half which saw eleven minutes of added time on the end of the first half; the second period though, that came to life just after the hour mark when County took the lead themselves.

Nick Tsaroulla was the provider for Ollie Cooper to fire home past Keeley, before the Hatters equalised themselves just seven minutes later, Callum Marshall firing past James Belshaw, in the visiting goal, from just outside the box.

Both sides came close to adding a third, but they settled for a point apiece in an entertaining draw, with the Magpies having collected two points from their opening two games in EFL League One; next up, hosting Burton Albion, on Saturday 29 August.

Meanwhile, Nigel Clough’s Mansfield Town suffered a late sucker-punch, falling to a 2-1 loss away to Peterborough United.

All three goals came in the second half, the hosts taking the lead through Ben Woods, he forcing the ball home from close range, via a deflection, five minutes after the restart; Stags striker Michael Smith equalised ten minutes later after Rhys Oates produced a great surge forward, playing in Smith to slot home.

The score stayed that way until stoppage time when Harry Leonard popped up to snatch what proved the winner, firing past Laim Roberts in the visiting goal from ten yards out, and snatching a 2-1 win.

Next up for the Stags, a visit from County’s opponents, Luton Town, on Sunday (30 August) afternoon.
