Field Mill Mania Heads For Mansfield

Tickets are now on sale for what’ s billed as an ‘unmissable, unforgettable, entertaining and exhilarating’ event as Mansfield Town Football Club host the first ever combat sports show in the club’s history on the pitch on Saturday, 30th May. Neil Huntley who runs Skegby’s Revolution Gym will be presenting the Revolution Elite Combat Championships 30th show themed as Field Mill Mania 1.

“We’ve been holding our shows at Stags in the hospitality marquee for some time and the next event on 28th March will be the 29th show,” explained Huntley. “The last Saturday in May we’ll be staging boxing, kickboxing and MMA bouts featuring fighters from across the Midlands, the UK, and Europe. The stadium will be transformed into a professional fight arena complete with dramatic lighting, big-screen visuals, live commentary, music, and high-energy ring walks designed to deliver a truly unforgettable atmosphere as we showcase local combat sports talent bringing the community together to take pride in the courage and resilience of over 70 competitors.”

“Revolution Elite Combat Championships (RECC) bring people together through the transformative power of sport. Combat sports teach discipline, build confidence, foster respect and create camaraderie and only then feature competition. Hosting RECC 30 on the pitch will provide young athletes from Mansfield and neighbouring areas with a platform to showcase talent, dedication and hard work in their hometown at a venue that many of them already love.”

“It’s taken ten years to make my vision of a WrestleMania-style event become reality. Previous events have laid the foundation as relationships were nurtured. Now the spotlight will shine on local fighters, coaches and fans in a way that hopefully rivals shows on the biggest stages. It’s a dream being realised.”

“We’re building something Mansfield can be proud of, and which creates an inspiring legacy of unity, opportunity and success as five thousand people come together to support the local fighters and the local community. This is an opportunity to unite different sports, cultures, and neighbourhoods under one banner to demonstrate what can be achieved as people have a shared purpose. We’re also committed to raising awareness around mental health and wellbeing as many in combat sports know firsthand how training and teamwork build mental resilience. We aim to highlight those benefits and encourage discussions that break down stigma and foster support.”

Mark Miles is team captain at Revolution and will be headlining the show. Prison Officer Miles, 27, started boxing aged 14 and has an impressive record of 37 wins in 43 bouts. According to Huntley, “Mark leads by example and is respected for his high work ethic. He motivates his teammates and inspires young athletes to work hard, stay focused, and chase their goals correctly. He’s a fitting choice for the main event as is his opponent Bailey Brassington who began his fighting career at Revolution.”

“Field Mill Mania will show just how hard every fighter has worked to get there and the vision we all share. We’ve seen how the Revolution team has developed. I had my first fight on Revolution’s first show in the Genesis centre and via world championships in Hungary I now can’t wait for my ten rounds at One Call. We’re excited for everything including the opening ceremony, the big screens and walkouts that should create a unique atmosphere Mansfield has never seen before with local talent stepping onto the grandest local stage. The fighters appreciate this incredible opportunity to get into their best shape physically and mentally. Spectators will witness enthralling displays of exceptional heart, championship character, and explosive exchanges.” Opponent Bailey, 21, with a record of 31 wins in 42 bouts, agrees. “Mark had a seven-round fight, but my longest bout is six. Ten’s a massive step up for us both. We can’t wait.”

Huntley has been a martial artist for over 30 years. The final words are his. “Thank you to all at the club and especially Daniel Deugo, Mark Hawkins and John Rutherford. As we signed the contract Daniel whispered that I should realise we’re making history. It sent shivers down my spine. Making history.”
