Taylor Next In At Reds
Lyle Taylor has completed his move from Charlton Athletic to Nottingham Forest after the much sought-after Reds target finally put pen to paper on a 3 year deal at the City Ground.
The 6ft2in 30-year-old striker, out of contract at the Valley, scored eleven goals in the Championship last season including two against Forest home and away with a memorable winner during a 1-0 win in Nottingham amongst the best of his campaign.
Offering physical presence, aerial ability, strength and a good touch the strikers goals could not do enough to keep Lee Bowyer’s side above the bottom three last season and with Forest hovering long term the Greenwich born star has finally decided to uproot from his London home to head north up the M1 for what is likely to be one last big move.
Having started in the youth academy at Staines Town, Taylor joined Millwall in 2007 but failed to make an appearance in his two years at the Den twice loaned out to non-league sides in Eastbourne Borough and Croydon Athletic. After moving to Concord Rangers in the Isthmian League, Taylor scored 34 league goals in 42 games earning a move to AFC Bournemouth (then of League One) in 2010 before further loans to Lewes, Hereford and Woking.
After joining Falkirk in 2012, Taylor scored 29 goals in 42 games in the Scottish First Division and joined Sheffield United before Scunthorpe United with a loan move to Partick Thistle in between.
A football journeyman of sorts, Taylor finally settled at AFC Wimbledon whom he joined in 2015 scoring 55 goals in 150 games before moving to Charlton where he averaged better than a goal every two games in his two year spell at the Valley.
In recent years Taylor has worked on his game and has improved to become a double-digit goals returner and his last five seasons in the Football League (across all divisions) has seen him score 76 goals with much more stable surroundings.
After passing his medical on Friday the signing of Taylor on a free was announced by Forest today with personal terms agreed, the former Addicks player of the Year becomes Manager Sabri Lamouchi’s third major signing of the summer following the capture of Jack Colback from Newcastle United earlier in the week and the signing of Tyler Blackett from Reading earlier in the day whilst the club have also signed Greek U17 International Alexandros Sarantis from AEK Athens.
