Thirteen Straight For Grace – NSL Round Up

Thirteenth straight victory, thirteen-point lead, it’s a good start to the New Year for Euro Soccer Nottinghamshire Senior League Premier Division leaders, FCV Grace Dieu, who eased to a 4-0 win on Saturday when home to joint-bottom West Bridgford Reserves.

A three-goal lead at the interval put them on their way to a seventeenth league win (from nineteen outings), as they continue their march to the title – Samuel Warburton, Finley Ging, Hassaan Farouq, and an own-goal, gave the hosts victory, whilst another clean sheet from Samuel Edwards was their fourth successive.

With that being the only game played in the NSLs top division, top six pairing of Cotgrave and Keyworth United, progressed to the semi-finals of the Nottinghamshire FA Senior Trophy, with wins over Bingham Town and Beeston respectively.

Cotgrave, who have three games in hand on Grace Dieu in the league, progressed with a 3-2 win away to Bingham Town, Mark Green’s brace, and one from Lawrence Cooke, helping them on their way to victory. Their game also included a minutes silence ahead of the match for the passing of the clubs youth coach Danny Loft who has a Just Giving page set up in his name HERE.

Keyworth United meanwhile, they eased to a 5-1 success when home to Beeston, to make the final four; goals from Thomas Siswick and Ajay Bentham presented a two-goal interval lead, whilst second half efforts from Ryan Tinsley, Sam Clements, and a stoppage time fifth Callum Wolloch, saw them through.

East Leake Robins jumped into fourth place in Division One following their 4-2 home win over Pass Move Grin, Thomas Hardy scoring twice, Jake Richardson and Johsua Wright adding further efforts, whilst Clifton All Whites won by the same score when away to AC United, thus closing the gap to three points, and one place.

Notts Olympic hold a narrow, one-point advantage, on Elston United in second place, after the former were held to a 2-2 draw with visitors Arnold Town Reserves, and the latter won 2-0 at Southwell City St Mary’s.

Daniel Battison and Nile Ions scored for the Olympic as they looked to be progressing towards three points, Scott Fretwell and James Wade ensuring, at the death, Town earned a share of the spoils; as for Elston, second half goals came via Toby Craven and William Veys in their win.

Gedling Southbank on the other-hand, they’ve dropped to fourth, AJ Sport leapfrogging their hosts into third following a 3-0 win, goals coming from Brandon Alsop, Lamin Daffeh, and Joshua Goldar.

As for Division Three, a Ben Charlesworth brace sent Langwith Whitestar into second place with a win at home to the leaders, Beeston Reserves – they’re now four behind, with a game in hand, Daniel Daminabo with the hosts’ goal.

And the remaining game, Trent Vineyard won 4-1 when away to Nottingham Greens in a bottom of the table battle, the victors seeing James Beaven bag a hat-trick alongside an effort from George Bradley.
