Reds Complete Business On Deadline Day

So Nottingham Forest got three major new players this January to hopefully help push them back up the table towards safety and away from any danger of relegation as Filip Krovinovic, James Garner and Glenn Murray all come in to boost Chris Hughton’s squad.

Krovinovic made his debut in a 0-0 draw with Barnsley at the weekend whilst Garner, a loanee from Manchester United aged 19, will add further depth in midfield having done well at Watford in a loan spell earlier this season, the Hornets no longer needing his services after beating the Reds to the permanent capture of Bournemouth’s Dan Gossling.

Glenn Murray offers vast experience and is one that divides opinion between fans. The 37-year-old striker may be at the twilight of his career but is a player that can still provide a handful for opposition defences and is something that Nottingham Forest certainly didn’t already have.

Murray’s lack of game time this season is a concern but with a new lease of life under Chris Hughton this swan song could be the perfect way to bow out, should his goals help Forest avoid relegation.

Those cut to make way for Murray include Miguel Angel Guerrero who’s strange time at the City Ground never got started before it ended. He joins Spanish second tier side Rayo Vallecano for an undisclosed fee after just eleven appearances for the Reds since signing in September from Olympiacos.

Another player out the door is young striker Wil Swan who joins Port Vale on loan until the end of the season whilst Harry Arter, told he can leave the club, was eyeing up a move to Bristol City but whilst struggling with a calf injury, that didn’t happen before last night’s deadline window ended.

The Reds are in action tonight away at Coventry City and will be without the injured Scott McKenna (ankle) whilst Ryan Yates will miss both the trip to St Andrews and Saturday’s match against Wycombe, Samba Sow is touch and go for later this evening and will be monitored by coaching staff ahead of the game whilst good news is that Jack Colback has returned to training after a recent injury.

Both Murray and Garner could feature in what is a must win game for the Reds this evening.
